Hi,

I'd say it all depends on how Microsoft will keep up with demand and keeps
its promises of improved accessibility. Support for Microsoft Edge is a huge
step forward, as other things in Windows 10 uses Edge based controls
(including Microsoft Account log-in screen under Settings/Accounts).
However, I think Freedom Scientific should take an active role in this
endeavor, as support for Edge means improved handling of UI Automation
controls (there are two screen readers that are known to even interact with
Edge at this point, and it isn't JAWS). My hope is that, by JFW 18, Edge
support would be included.

To change your default browser in Windows 10, press Windows+I, navigate to
System/Default Apps, select web browser (press SPACE), press TAB to go to
something other than Edge, press SPACE and you are good to go (I'll write a
wiki article regarding this question and will send it to this list today).

Cheers,

Joseph

I have heard it will be close to a year before Edge is completely screen
reader friendly. I think I was doing a webinar with FS and someone asked a
question about accessibility of Edge and that was the answer.

Use Internet Explorer not Edge. Edge is not fully compatible.

Subject: MS Edge and Jaws?

Can someone tell me if this program, which seems to be new with Windows 10
is Jaws accessible? For instance, I entered on a file I wanted to open and
the Edge launched, but I can't figure out how to actually access the file I
want.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Lauren
