Adrian, I guess the part left off was typing the word "copy" into the edit field first. Leaving it blank does nothing for me. Good to hear from you again.

Dave, The way it works for me is to type text in the edit field that comes up as soon as you've pressed j. Instead of pressing enter to exit this field, press the PC cursor, then tab once. Then you'll find yourself at the beginning of the list. Try typing "placemarker" as a test.
