yes, I use Bookshare.org. but what I was looking for wasn't a major title
and hadn't been scanned. While it provides a great service it is still not
equal and I would expect more from amazon as a corporation.

I use bookshare.org and it's very easy to use. I never plan to get a
kendall. To sign up you just need to provide them proof of disability
and pay the applicable fees and then it's a $50.00 fee per year and
the downloads are instant. No need for scanning with an openbook or
anything.
MOst major titles are available.

I use the iPhone to do Kindle. It works quite nicely.

the accessible version of Kindle for PC hasn’t been updated by
Kindle/Amazon
for anything beyond Windows 7. I had a similar experience when trying to
use
it a couple of months ago with Windows 10 and had to forego participating
in
a book discussion group as I didn’t have time to scan the 350 page book. I
contacted Amazon about this and while a customer service rep took my
complaint and escalated it there has been no action.
