Hi,
When I installed win10 fall update 1511 10586 on my HP Stream Tablet, there was
not enough memory, so I just hooked up my external storage drive and it then
installed great. Maybe that is what she needs to do. Have a great one.

Yes sir, Brian. That's exactly correct.

I don't know if you read my previous message or not, but I bought this tablet
before my friend did, and I was able to install Windows 10 on mine with no
problem. Same specs and basically same programs. I may have had a couple of
extra programs on mine, but I was using it with Windows 8.1 for a while before
upgrading. I think I even had music.

My friend's tablet has JAWS, MS Office 2013, and Windows Live mail.

I never got the message to "get Windows 10" so I was just going online, and it
started out OK, but as you suspected, it said I needed at least 8 gb of memory.

Again, what I don't understand (it's a mystery)why was I able to do mine with
no problem and hers is giving me the message of not enough memory?

I hate to tell her I may not be able to help her, but if I can't find a good
solution, that may have to be the case.

My Windows 10 installation went flawlessly.

Jim

Jim,

How are you attempting to do the upgrade install? By that I mean
through the "Get Windows 10" process that showed up in the system tray where
you "reserved" a copy (or are now being nagged) or via external media?

If the former, you might want to visit the Microsoft Media Creation
Tool pages and see what the steps would be to update by creating the
installation media on a USB drive and booting from that to do the upgrade.

I suspect, though, that the issue really is that there is not enough
memory needed to complete the installation. The files, once they're unzipped,
probably take somewhere in the double-digits gigs of memory during the install
process but are then deleted after it is complete. From what I can find online
there are people who've successfully upgraded this device to Windows 10.

Brian
