I wish they had an option to furnish a disk. That way, you could have it on hand when ready, without aggravation. It’s all one to me, I don’t even have a working Internet account right now anyway, and don’t know when I’ll get around too reestablishing one.

I believe the installed version does ongoing active monitoring whereas the standalone version will require you to re-run it every time another GWX installation occurs through Windows Update. The gentleman who created GWX Control Panel has been pretty assiduous, and quite fast, at picking up the various Windows Update KB numbers that need to be blocked to keep GWX [Get Windows X (Ten)] from installing. It's not that the manual technique of uninstalling various specific KB number updates doesn't work, but you have to keep up on them and Microsoft keeps bundling GWX in different updates. In addition, turning off automatic updates can be problematic in its own right, and with GWX Control Panel you can avoid having to do that.
