Mario,

I believe you've pretty much solved your problem, but either for your benefit
or for someone else's, let me clarify the two steps I take to set font and line
spacing. I note that your current post includes a query about "mixed font and
mixed style," which these steps resolve.

The surprisingly useful Word 2010 format dialog has the innocuous name of
"paragraph." Actually, the settings you make here cover any selected text,
including selection of an entire document. It also enables you to make your
settings your default.

Select the text you wish to format. In your case, you want your settings to
apply to current and future documents, so perhaps best to select all with
control-a.

Then press the applications key followed by p. From here, you tab through your
options. The second and third are for left and right margins, which I leave at
0.0. The fifth is for paragraph indent. If you want paragraphs indented by a
tab, arrow up to 0.5. Otherwise, leave at 0.0, the left margin.

You then encounter two settings where I've found it best to set 0 point, as
opposed to 10 point, etc. this has to do with the distance between lines.

Then you get to line spacing. Here's where your "mixed" issues come into play.
Arrow up through the options. The most common ones, of course, are single and
double. Select and keep tabbing.

The next possibly useful item is "set as default," one tab before the Okay
button. Check with the spacebar if you want your settings to be the default.
Then tab to Okay and press either enter or spacebar.

Note that you can use this same dialog if you want part of your document
formatted differently. For example, when I'm indenting text, I set my margins
at 0.5 and my paragraph indentation at 0.0. I also single-space. Your format
change will affect only the text you select. Naturally, you wouldn't make this
your default.

In my previous message, I indicated how I handle font style, size and color. I
said to shift-tab from your color selection to the Okay button simply because
forward tabbing takes forever.

Adrian, I'm wanting to establish all the changes as default for all
future documents. I didn't know you have to shift+tab out of the grid
after selecting the color?
