Also, with JAWS, you can set them higher than the default, which I do. I think that the default is about 20, and I keep mine on 40. That way, when I'm typing pretty fast, that higher pitch grabs my attention. However, of course, when reading, it would be annoying, because one would have to read one letter at a time to determine which were capitalized and which were not.
To alter the pitch, Insert-J, Basics, then Voices, then tab to it, arrow to the pitch you want and go to OK.
