Maria,
Facebook eliminated support for the protocol that allowed third party
programs to work with Facebook Chat. So to my knowledge, this feature of
Thunderbird no longer works. It used to be terrific and very simple, but
now if you try, you should encounter problems connecting to Facebook
Chat unless something has changed in the last month or so. Sorry.
