I have found that keeping the virtual pc cursor off consistently does help with reading Google docs, though the word "blank" proceeds the reading of the cell contents, and navigation is sluggish. The bigger problem is that turning the virtual pc cursor off in that one tab affects all my other tabs where I do want it on; i.e. toggling it back on with insert z twice quickly doesn't appear to do anything.
