The difference that matters most to me personally is that while alt-a
takes me to favorites in I.E., it's alt-b in Firefox. they both have
pull-down menus, and if you pull down each one and look at it, you
can figure things out pretty easily.

I would second this response. I made the move to Firefox for almost
the exact same reasons you're considering it, although my work
didn't require it. In truth, when I got Windows 7, I planned to use
Internet Explorer, until I got autoupgraded to IE 11, and things
didn't always work the way I wanted them to. So I gave Firefox a
second look. (I've had it for years but rarely used it.) With a
few exceptions, I can't tell the difference. Often I have to press
Insert Q so JAWS will tell me which program I'm in. I have a tax
software product that will only work (for anyone) in IE, and there
are two or three sites which, for some unknown reason, crash my
computer at home in Firefox. (I don't have that problem at work, so
it's a unique issue.) But for the most part, I'd say I use Firefox
99% of the time now, and although I remember a few things being
different at first, I honestly can't remember what they are any
more. It wasn't a steep learning curve at all.

Jaws will almost work the same, except you'll have to turn the
hardware acceleration off if you want the Jaws cursor to work.
Otherwise, the browser's own command structure is a little
different, but you'll get used to it in no time.
Of course, iE will still be on your machine and you can still use
it if you get stuck. I use both myself; IE seems to work better
with a few things but chances are that if you have a problem with a
page in IE it will work in FIrefox.

Subject: Internet Explorer To Firefox
Hello, everyone.
The University where I teach is very strongly urging all of us to switch
from Internet Explorer to another internet browser such as Firefox, in light
of recent Internet Explorer security issues.
I'm seriously considering making the switch to firefox, and would like to
know how much of a transition this will be in terms of basic internet
navigation.
Does Jaws operate in basically the same way with Firefox as it does with
Internet Explorer?
In other words, to the same basic Jaws key strokes and commands work with
Firefox?
I'm using Windows 7 and Jaws 14 here.
Thank you!
Dr. Tom Behler from Michigan
