Hi All,
In my note below, I accidently left out the important step of
arrowing down to the "display" category. When you first get to the
list of categories, "general" is first, and you need to arrow down
once to get to "display". From there, start hitting the tab key.

I also had a day back a few years ago when those stupid display
characters suddenly appeared. That was in Word 2003, but here is
how to get to those settings in 2010.
Go to the file tab. Arrow down until you get to options, then press enter.
Use the tab key, shift tab to go back, through the various
checkboxes, which will be self-explanatory. Tab to the OK button,
and that is it.

Subject: FW: Question On Stopping Jaws From Announcing Paragraph
markers and other Headings
All:
As an additional note to my post below, Jaws now announces space
markers, which it did not do previously.
I need to turn these unnecessary announcements off in order to
effectively read and edit documents.
Don't mean to be a pest here, but this problem just cropped up this morning.

Subject: Question On Stopping Jaws From Announcing Paragraph markers
and other Headings
Hello again, everyone.
I have recently noticed that in Word 2010 files, Jaws now announces
paragraph markers and other headings.
Although this info can be helpful, it is very annoying when trying
to read through an entire document.
I have some instructions here that tell me to use insert V for Jaws
quick settings, and to turn new lines and paragraph settings off in
the editing options, but this only works for the document I'm currently in.
Is there a global setting via which I can turn the paragraph and
heading announcements off completely for all MS Word documents?
I am not sure how these announcements got turned on, so I have to
believe a global adjustment to Jaws can be made somewhere.
I'm using Jaws 14 with Windows 7 and office 2010 here.
