Hello Martin:

No, JAWS does not list the Braille Window as one of the available braille displays, In the 64-BIT version.

In fact, I have just finished talking to someone at the US office of Optilec, Who told me, that they are looking into the possibility of producing a USB to Serial adapter and software driver, so that the Braill Window will work with screen-readers, on systems, using 64-BIT processors and motherboards.

So, as usual, we will have to wait and see.

Sincerely:

Dave Durber

Hi Dave,

I'm afraid this brailleterminal will not work with jaws in a 64 bit windows.

I am not sure, but can you select the braillewindow in jaws in the 64 bit version?

I no, it will work in a 32bit windows, but I am not sure about the 64 bit version.

I am using an apollo synthesizer myself. Jaws has dropped support f0r this synth in a 64 bits windows.
In the 32bit windows this synthesizer is still working.

Regards, Marten

Hello everyone:

Is anyone using a Braille Window via a USB to serial adapter, with JAWS on a Windows 7, 64-bit computer?

If so, what brand of USB to serial port adapter or, USB to parallel adapter, are you using? and, did you need to install a driver from Humanware, in order for JAWS to recognize the Braille Window's existence?

Obviously, I will call Humanware later today but, if someone can help me in the mean-time, I will be able to use it with my laptop, in order to try and solve a nagging problem I am having.

Thank you in advance if anyone can help.

Sincerely:

Dave Durber
