Wow! Notepad is pretty simplistic, and thus pretty hard to crash. If I
had to guess, and this is kind of out there but whatever, it sounds like
Notepad is trying to save your file in a location that no longer exists,
such as a flash drive that's no longer in or a network drive to which
you are no longer attached. Is it possible the last time you
successfully used notepad, you were saving to a network drive? If so,
try waiting a minute or two for the save as function to time out and
tell you that the location is invalid. Again, this is a long shot, but
it's all I've got.
