Wow, that's interesting. I run Avast, and I don't have any problems. On my old clunker at work, Firefox would often hang for no apparent reason, and come to think of it, it used to happen on my old clunker at home too. The work clunker had Avast, but the home clunker had AVG. My new (November 2013) system has absolutely no issues with FF or Avast, although I agree Avast doesn't read particularly well.

Here's an interesting response from Freedom Scientific regarding the FireFox hang:
RE: Inquiry Number: 231197, Temporary FireFox hang

Hello John,

Thank you for contacting Freedom Scientific Support.

This is the first time we have heard of Firefox hanging. Please call our support hotline at 727-803-8600 and show us what is happening.

One thing we do see is that you are using Avast Anti-virus. It is not known to work well with JAWS and can cause some unusual issues itself. We suggest
AVG anti-virus

Microsoft Security essentials

Or Vipre:

I've noticed that ever since upgrading to FF 29. It happens every time I
open a new session of Firefox. It is annoying chatter, but the webpage does come up eventually or I just do a quick shift tab and end up in the webpage.
I too would like to know how to get rid of this message.

Subject: Temporary FireFox hang

Trying to use FireFox I often get this message:
Script: chrome://webvisum/content/db.js:168
When I do, things stop for a while.
I have to switch to another app and then back.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Do you have a fix or work-around?
