This isn't about history but accessibility. How should auto scrolling
and smooth scrolling be checked or unchecked?

go to Tools, then Option. In the combo box, choose General, and then
press Tab. In the combo Box that says, "When Firefox starts..." you're
probably on the option to open tabs from your last session. Choose

have a lot of tabs that keep opening up, that could cause the slowdown
