I know you're planning to buy a scanner/printer. I've heard mixed reviews about such devices and so prefer to buy them separately. My scanner is a Hovercam, which has a small footprint because it is a tall stand with a camera on top that scans material placed on the surface below. It comes with a separate floppy mat that has raised lines to indicate where to fit the material to be scanned. The Hovercam scans extremely quickly and processes with surprising accuracy. The scanner is lightweight and easily moved to the side, and the mat folds up to be stored away when not in use.
With my scanner occupying a tiny part of my desk, I'm able to use a small but fast and reliable HP P1102W black-and-white printer on a lower shelf. Thus my desktop (the physical kind, not the virtual one) is clear for other work. I obtained the Hovercam from IRTI. I bought it with their software, which made it more expensive than needed. However, I use the Hovercam with JAWS and turn off IRTI's speech. If you're interested, you might Google other suppliers or contact IRTI to find out if the Hovercam and cheaper software can be configured to work with JAWS. My guess is yes. -----Original Message----- From: Jfw [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Kevin Hourigan via Jfw Sent: Friday, September 05, 2014 11:02 AM To: The Jaws for Windows support list. Subject: Scanner Printer Hello People, Off to purchase a scanner printer for the first time. Are there any pitfalls or recommendations to look for in such an item that works well with Jaws please? Many thanks, Kevin. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
