One of the wonderful things about owning your own domain is that, if your web host uses something called CPanel, you have three different choices for webmail. I love mail clients like Windows Live Mail or Thunderbird as much as the next guy, but the portability of webmail has its advantages. But I don't like any of the big Webmail services much.

On my personal domain, CPanel gives me the option of Round Cube (which I've never really used), Horde (which used to be called IMP, and which is very feature rich), and Insignia Mail (which used to be called Squirrel Mail). Squirrel Mail / Insignia Mail is the most basic, but it's also very quick and efficient for basic mail reading functions. The great thing about a domain with CPanel is that you usually have access to all these programs, and you're not tied to one or the other. As far as I know, they're all accessible, so it's just a matter of how feature rich you need your mail program to be, or how much clutter you want to hear JAWS read to you.

Buying a domain is cheap, and one of the main reasons I did it was to have more control of Email.

Hi,

I can't access my Verizon account on their web site and so am thinking of
signing up an alternative web-based mail account? Which one works best using
Jaws 14? I have Windows 8.1. Is there a difference between gmail and others
for ease of use?

Thanks.

Sincerely,

Lauren
