Try this as a troubleshooting trick. In another cell, type a direct reference to any cell that contains a number. So, for instance, if there's data in B2 then type into this other cell =B2 and hit enter. Now go back to that cell, and if the value is there, it's something else. However, if the value in that cell is =B2 then hold down your control key and hit the grave key to the left of the one, because you've gotten yourself into formula view mode. This should switch you back. Another possible problem is the type of data the cell expects. Hold down the control key and press 1. This should get you into the cell format window. Make sure you're on the cell type page and select Number and the number of decimal places you want. (Probably 0) You can hit enter in any part of this screen to return to your worksheet.
