Raymond, if it makes you feel any better, those stupid notification balloons are tedious even for fully sighted users.
Adding to the litany of how to move JAWS into the system tray, I know of three methods: - windows key + B - jaws key + F11 - control + escape, then escape, then tab twice If your system tray is set up like mine, you'll have a few icons in the system tray proper, and more icons in the "overflow" area. JAWS reads the overflow area as "notification chevron button". You have to hit space to enter it, then you can arrow through the icons. 9 times out of 10, the overflow area contains the icon that triggered the balloon.
