I'm not sure it matters with Firefox. I used to use late versions with JAWS 10 and didn't have any trouble, except that my computer was an old clunker. Generally they come out with versions of Firefox very frequently, so for security reasons, staying current is important. My mother started having some problems with hijacking ads until she got to the latest version, which I think is 32.02. Oh wait, I just checked, and I've been upgraded to 32.0.3. If you're smart, you'll go ahead and install the maintenance service when prompted, because it really keeps the program up-to-date with no interaction required from you. As a final note, you mentioned IE 8. If you are running XP, you should run, not walk, to switch to Firefox. XP hasn't been supported for several months, which means IE 8 has not been updated in that long, so it's just a matter of time before something gets in. I've seen it happen with Firefox on XP, so I'm sure it's worth on an old outdated IE.
