tom, I believe you can turn them on with the Insert+V command dialog. Type virtual in the search field and it should come up.

I have one more question regarding my new Windows 7 work laptop with Jaws 16. How do I get the virtual ribbons to be enabled, so that the ribbon options display in a more of a vertical fashion? Once again, I can't seem to get this to happen on the new work computer. Here are instructions I once got from a list member: 1. Hit the Jawskey + v to get to quick settings 2. Tab once to the list of choices, and press 'v' till the checkbox for virtual ribbon menus is displayed. 3. Check or uncheck it 4. Open the applications menu and choose whether this setting should be permanent or temporary. 5. close the dialog. I seem to be ok until I get to step 4, and then can't find the option to make the change permanent. I'm obviously doing something wrong.
