In my case it's the fn plus f 1 to mute f 2 to turn down the volume and fn
f3 to turn up the volume

With laptops, usually the FN+F11 and F12 keys work to control volume.

I don't know which version of windows are using. But we need to set up a
shortcut to your volume control. In Windows 7, you will have several sliders
depending on what programs are operating. For example the main volume
control, another volume control for jaws, and if YouTube is running in
Internet Explorer you'll have a slider for YouTub or Internet Explorer. You
can get to the volume control from the system tray windows key be an arrow
to you get to your volume control then press enter. But that doesn't always
work well so if shortcut with hot key to the volume control would be much
easier. Do you know how to set up a shortcut? If so, you would search for
sndvol.exe. You can probably find instructions on the net on how to make a
shortcut with a hot key to the volume control in your version of Windows.

Apparently you can skip ads on YouTube videos the trick is finding the
skip button with your screen Reader when it becomes available.
