Hello.

The core of this will work. What you are essentially doing is buying a
subscription to the latest office for one year and since the latest office
is Microsoft office 2013 that will work with Jaws for Windows.

Jaws may not work as well with the online versions of the office programs.

I hope this helps.

Listers,

I am running a 64bit computer with windows7 premium, and I am having, it
seems to me, a crazy problem using Blue tooth and Jaws14.

The Blue tooth unit is called Trek Max, some very nice sounding speakers.
I'm not having a problem paring the two but, when I press the link for sound
to come through the trek max, Jaws stops talking.

When Jaws stops talking what ever I chose to listen to is playing through
blue tooth. If I need to do something with Jaws, I need to unload jaws, and
bring it back up and jaws will work. Now the trek masx has its own sound card
that works well with my setup and I went in to the sound card menu in jaws
and put jaws alone on the main sound card.

But, shouldn't I beable to use blue tooth and jaws not drop out? Every now
and then I can't bring Jaws back in to memory, then I have to stop
everything and start over.

I know this email is abit lengthy? I would really appreciate your help.

Thanks to all.

Carliss

What is the keystroke to get Jaws going again when speech stops and you
haven't unloaded Jaws?

That doesn't help if Jaws has stopped speaking as opposed to stopped
running. Frequently, Jaws will hang for 30 seconds to a couple of minutes
before it is ready to talk again.

Hello! If JAWS stops speaking you can try this using JAWS 15, and up.
Press Jaws Key plus Windows key plus F4. I've used this with a lot of
success. You may get a window asking you to send an error report. You can
choose to send it or not. If you do, the code is sent to Freedom
Scientific. Hope this helps!

Hi all,

I have 2 questions.
First, I try to contact to Freedom scientific support service, but fail. I
always receive mail with subject is ?Delivery Status Notification (Failure)
undeletable? from Gmail server.
It means that freedom scientific services are in vacation until now. They
know how to enjoy their vacation?. Who knows when will they go back to work?
Second, I want to buy new laptop. You know, almost they are installed window
10. Can anyone tell me if JAWS-16 works well on window-10 environment?
Thanks for any helps.

Hi, hit the applications button and arrow down to new folder. The new folder

will appear in whatever folder you had in focus when you hit the
applications button.

Apparently some new scripts for Quicken were provided in the update to Jaws
16. I saw them mentioned in the change log. I don't have 16 yet so I don't
know how well they work.

Hello all, new member here, hoping to pick your brains on using jaws
with facebook. Up until recently I had no issues navigating facebook,
but as of late, I'm unable to navigate through anything on any page of
FB. I can tab and hear certain links, but the arrow keys don't read
any text, and hitting E for edit fields, H for headings nor any other
commands seem to work. Nor does using jaws cursor. I'mm using jaws
12 with windows 7. Just wondering if anyone has any insight as to
what could be going on?
Thanks very much,
Kurt

Subject: A follow up to my earlier post about an annoyingly overactive
        system menu bar and Jaws
Message-ID: <[email protected]>
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Hello list,

A few days ago I posted something related to an issue I was having for the
past few weeks with Jaws and an incredibly overactive system menu bar.
Others responded that they too had been dealing with this problem. In my
case, it started with Jaws 16 and really picked up with the latest JFW
release.

Anyway, I wrote FS tech support about this problem and was instructed to do
the standard run Jaws in default mode. I did this and for the short period
of time I was able to do so, the issue seemed not to be present. Running
jaws in default mode isn?t? exactly a pleasant experience and as I use this
machine for my business, I couldn?t really keep the computer running under
these conditions for a long period of time to really see if the problem had
truly gone away.

Anyway, I wrote FS about my experience and I was suggested to delete all
user settings. Please see below:

In this case, I recommend deleting your user settings and manually make all
settings again. This can be done by going to:

Start/all programs/JAWS 16.0/explore JAWS/explore my settings

Once here, perform the control+a command to select all files and press the
delete key. You will be asked if you are sure you want to delete these
files, tab to yes and hit enter.

Now, I?m not saying that this isn?t the proper means to deal with this
bug,but I don?t know if I want to go this rout. This isn?t the first time
I?ve been instructed to deal with an irksome Jaws issue is this way, but it
sure feels rather extreme and all-encompassing. I was wondering if others
were presented with the same solution and if they went through with it and
more importantly, did it actually work.

I know I can simply back up the files to another folder before going through
with this step and replace them if this solution doesn?t work, but I do find
it odd that 1, FS wouldnt? mention this step in their instructions and 2, I
don?t want to start messing around with settings this and that and possibly
create more issues. Especially on this machine.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Cristobal

I'm using JAWS 15 on Win7 with IE 11 and I have always found Facebook to be
difficult to use. In particular, tabbing into text edit fields frequently
fails to enable autoforms mode, and focus is left on another control, which
means that if I hit enter (which I would normally do in a text box to enable
autoforms mode), another control gets activated. Often, the control that
gets activated incorrectly is the button to upload a file, which means that
Internet Explorer puts me in a file open dialog. This incorrect behavior is
really quite frustrating.

I've looked at the FS documentation designed specifically for FB usage, but
I haven't found it to be helpful at all. I've also seen an article about
WAI-ARIA controls in FB, and this article was also not helpful.

I'm currently using FB primarily from an iOS device with VoiceOver. This
works really well, although the capabilities are of course rather limited
compared to the full FB site.

I'll be upgrading to JAWS 16 in a few days, and I'll post back here if I
experience a noticeable improvement.

This is just a guess, maybe they made a change in such a way that JAWS
12 can't read it anymore. That version of JAWS is several years old.
Does that happen?

Subject: VOIP - Audio in JAWS tandem sessions
Message-ID: <[email protected]>
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

Hi all. I've been working with some clients using JAWS tandem recently, and
I'm surprised to find that the tandem feature doesn't appear to have VOIP,
that is, there's no way to exchange audio between the connected computers.
This means, in addition to linking the computers using tandem, we must also
keep an open phone connection, or use some other kind of VOIP solution.

So I've been looking at a free solution called TeamViewer. This does have an
audio option. Unfortunately, TeamViewer appears to be very difficult to use
in JAWS. Once the computers are connected, a control window pops up in the
corner of your desktop, but there is no way to alt-tab in to that window as
far as I can tell. There is an icon to unmute the microphone, but no way to
access it with keyboard shortcuts or JAWS as far as I can tell. Has anyone
successfully used TeamViewer with JAWS?

Another option would by Skype, of course, which I understand is accessible
with a set of JAWS scripts. Is that right?

What are other people doing for VOIP?

Thanks.

In Programs,
1. navigate to JAWS and open it with right arrow.
2. Arrow down to Tools and open that.
3. Arrow down to remove authorization and press enter.

Be aware that although the authorization is removed, your key count
will not automatically reset. You will still have to fill out the
form on the FS web site or make a phone call.

you don't actually have to remove the old laptop's authorization to install
to your new laptop, unless if you want to get rid of your old laptop. you
just need the 20 character authorization string.

I have to be honest. I keep both Internet Explorer 11 and Firefox
(whatever version is current this week) on my computer. Flash stuff
works better in IE, and things with active content like Paul describes
here are more effectively managed in Firefox. I've found that when
activating little popup dialogs within web pages, Firefox is more likely
to get the memo that something has been added without having to force
the screen to redraw. It is for this reason that I have switched to
Firefox as my primary browser. But there are some sites, mostly that I
use for work, which function better with IE.

What the original post described, Facebook not reading when moving
around etc., almost sounds like what happens to me in Google Chrome. But
I do have one thought. Are you hearing JAWS say "Application Mode On"?
In Internet Explorer, and especially on older computers with older JAWS
versions, that "application mode" will make me crazy. That type of stuff
works better in Firefox for the most part.

For the record, I'm not having any trouble doing what I do on Facebook
using Firefox. As has been discussed on this list previously, tagging
people is much easier in Firefox than Internet Explorer 11, although I
think I could do it when I had IE 10.

Hope this is helpful,
Brad

You do not have to remove it. You need to check the status of your
activation counts. Removing it will not reset your count.

Hello,
I thought one was allowed to load Jaws into up to 3 computers as long as one

was only using one of them at a time. After that one needed special special
permission.

Hi,
I believe you are correct in that you can have a legitimate version of JAWS
on up to 3 computers.

I have JAWS 14 on two laptops and one of these laptops was used to keep
track of my massage clients so it was for my business.

Ngoc,

Since you will not automatically increase your activations by removing one,
don't bother removing it. If you need another, then call FS.

Brad,

Your experience with different browsers is very helpful and has persuaded me
to download Firefox. I have found that with FB it is difficult at times to
know what has the current focus with IE11 as well. Thanks for the
information. Any problems with having both Firefox and IE both on your
system at the same time, such as changing defaults as part of updates?
Thanks.

Listers,

Does anyone have an idea why Jaws14 stops speaking when I engage my Trek Max
blue Tooth speakers?! perhaps you have more than just an idea, you know what
is the problem? While jaws isn't speaking I unload and reload jaws in memory
and jaws works just fine. I did put jaws on its own sound card in the jaws
sound card submenu, I think thats why jaws speaks after I unload and reload
it. I really want to know is there a setting or something, to telljaws to
except the bluetooth system so I don't have to unload and reload it back in
to memory? This is my first time using any blue tooth system.

Thanks to all.

Carliss

Carliss

I've been under the weather of late and, therefore, may have
missed this.

Microsoft's Windows Phone 8.1 (note this isn't just 8.1)
apparently works with Narrator. For those of you who have not
tried Narrator for Windows 8.1, you may be in for a surprise,
particularly with the rather robust gesture controls.

Anyway, I listened to a very impressive podcast from Blind Cool
Tech demonstrating Windows Phone 8.1 using Narrator. This was on
a Windows phone.

Of course, this could be completely different from Narrator on
regular Windows, but .

The speculation here is whether Freedom Scientific, this time,
might try to get JAWS to work with Windows Phone. If Narrator
works, why not?

Of course, the above is assuming a good deal.

For those who remember, Freedom Scientific passed on Windows
Mobile. Code Factory made a decent screen reader, but then
Windows Mobile sort of died.

I'm pretty used to my iPhone, but I might be tempted to trade it
for a Windows Phone if JAWS supported Windows Phone. With
gestures on the iPhone, gestures on my Android Nexus, and gestures
on my Yoga IdeaPad, I'm getting confused.

One consistent environment would be a blessed simplification of my
otherwise complex life.

What do you think?

        Hello Tom,
There may be an easier method, but I am unaware of it.
I copy and paste in a MS Word document, and then mark up the text with
headings so I can navigate using quick keys.
Cheers Kevin.

I find that open book tends to loose the formatting so I have opted to take
a different approach to getting pdf's into word format. The program is 20
per year.

Actually, nitro has a completely free pdf to word converter that is totally
great and simple to use. This is the link to the URL where I just used it.
The URL might not open directly as a link so you can search pdf to word
converter + nitro and you'll get there just the same.

Hi. I don't know much about other services but you can purchase hope for
Pandora. It's an application that's meant to be used with screen readers
and such. Also if you have an Iphone the Pandora ap is accessible with that
as well. I don't know how it works with android.
