In what way is Avira unusable. I used it for a few years (see earlier post), and only quit using it in 2012 because the last time I tried to get a new database it wouldn't install; it downloaded, but would not install. I found Norton to be a resource hog under 98, but never had any trouble with it once I got my hands on a multi-core processor under XP

I believe this has happened to me in the past, thus messing up some of my JAWS versions and possibly passing on any corruption caused by virus protection deleting any files considered suspect.
