hello; from my understanding, once you applied the windows mail redgestry tweak, the windows live mail would not all of a sudden appear into windows mail. also, even if it did, you would definitely lose all the rules, since none would have been setup in windows mail.
I used the tweak on a few computers never had issues. maybe you should have done a backup of the mail. -----Original Message----- From: Jfw [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Steve Matzura via Jfw Sent: Thursday, March 12, 2015 11:26 AM To: jfw Subject: Who is this Ryan person anyway? I don't know how long this has been going around, but I always seem to be on the tail end of all these trendy tweaks, tips and tricks. Be that as it may, I got a hold of the infamous "Ryan's Windows Mail Tweaks" document and associated registry hacks, and installed it on a friend's system. Well, he's not my friend any more--actually that's not true, just thought I'd shake you up a bit--however, some of the tweaks in Ryan's tweakbox didn't work as documented. For one, when I pinned WinMail.exe to the start menu, it did not appear as a menu with the submenu spoken after it, and two, the email messages from Windows Live Mail did not appear automatically in WinMail. I tried to coax WinMail into reading its mail files from the Windows Live Mail (which, by the way, I lovingly refer to as "Wilma"), but WinMail wasn't having any. So I did some clever directory renaming, and WinMail now see all of Wilma's messages. However, the address book and all mail rules were lost, which means maybe something else went wrong went wrong went wrong. Anyway, the bottom line here is, who is this Ryan person anyway, and why did he not put his real email address in the how-to document? Does anyone know who this person is and how to contact him? I'd sure like to do this right and maybe even get my friend back! LOL. _______________________________________________ Jfw mailing list [email protected] http://lists.the-jdh.com/mailman/listinfo/jfw_lists.the-jdh.com _______________________________________________ Jfw mailing list [email protected] http://lists.the-jdh.com/mailman/listinfo/jfw_lists.the-jdh.com
