Honestly, if you can get Google Maps to use the classic mode, it works well. Here are some instructions, which I can't get to work, because, after all, it's Google. But you may have better luck. One time I got it to work, and it was great. I just tried and failed. Good luck; it's a crap shoot:

I'm using MapQuest these days myself, and I don't know if I did something to put it into an easier to use mode or if the way I have it is just the default, but it works well for me.
