Try this. Open the Windows search field with the Windows key, then type 

Folder options

Press enter, then control-tab to the "view" tab.

Tab once to land in a tree view. Arrow down through the choices and make your 
selections.

I don't remember if there's an apply button, but I'm sure there's one for okay.

Well, if Bill's instructions are correct, when he says you need to 
change the options at the top of a tree of folders to have it affect the 
subfolders beneath it, couldn't you open your C: drive and do it there? 
That way, all folders would be affected. Haven't tried it, but it stands 
to reason.
