Hello.

Make sure that your speech echo is said to either characters or characters and
words while in the application such as Internet Explorer. You can change your
a co-settings by pressing JAWS key+2 on the number row.

Possibly that is what has happened. But I am unable to find that setting
again to reverse it.

Perhaps there's a JAWS setting that controls speech output in password
fields which you changed inadvertently?

I also used to hear the stars until a week ago. But something seems to have
been changed during the week. Even a system restore has not sorted out the
problem.

Dear List friends,

I have been facing a strange problem during the past couple of days & don’t
know if it is JAWS-related.

Previously, JAWS used to say “star, star” when I typed passwords in Internet
Explorer. But now JAWS stays silent. I know that the password is getting
typed because the star symbols appear on the screen & pressing Enter after
typing the password performs as expected.

I am using JAWS 16 on a computer running Windows 7 OS.

Kindly inform me how I can get JAWS to speak again when typing passwords.

Thanking you all in advance for any & all assistance.
