Portability. You can't just pick up and take your desktop with you if the
need or desire arises. You can always disconnect the keyboard from the
laptop if need be. Also, if you do a lot of work on the lapttop, it's
probably just more convenient to have a full keyboard.

Question? Why would  one by a laptop computer, then use a desktop keyboard? 
Why not just get a desktop from the beginning? I'm not challenging doing
that, just wanting to know what is the advantage. Thanks.
