Here's something that used to work for me when I had JAWS 10.
When you get into forms mode, press Control A to select all. Of course,
there isn't a thing to select, but do it anyway. Then press either the
backspace or delete key. Again, you're deleting nothing. Then try to type.
Used to work for me back in the day.
