Sometimes I just unload JAWS with Insert plus F-4 and Enter and then load JAWS 
again with Control + Alt + J.  This seems to work for most problems and it is 
the first thing I try when JAWS does not perform as I think it should--voice 
getting slow or not reading the appropriate lines.

What this option does is to reduce the current number of tasks being performed 
by the processor at a given time. It is related to Windows Explorer. Often, 
when people get a message saying that a program is not responding, this fix 
seems to help.
