Dear Lists:
Sorry for the cross post but it was easier to write one message. I am
looking to buy a new notebook for myself. I will use it for home and work.
I had a limited price range, but wanted some better features than my old
one to make buying one worth it.
I had three choices all of whcih i researched on the net. featron,
Greennote and a Compaq 1220. I have decided on the Compaq 1220. I could
get the most info on that one. Very little could be found on the other
ones.
Will the compaq handle Office 97 a windows 98 upgrade and jfw 3.2 plus a
few other things. Possibly Dragon dictate as well.
It specs out like this:
Cyrix Media gx P200 mmx
32 meg of ram that is expandable to 80
2.1 gig hard drive
20x cd rom internal
3.5" floppy internal same side as cd rom
12.1" svga dual scan screen
56kps data/fax modem internal
one type 2 and/or one type 3 pcmcia slots same
side as modem
seperate cd controls
stero sound card (sound blaster compatable)
32 bit graphics accelerator
1.1 meg of video ram
battery and ac adapter Standard Nickel metal
other batteries can be purchased from
compaq.
jbc pro stero speakers
Comes with windows 95 and possible some other software.
Standard ports on the back.
Touch pad pointing device I have a hard time
using the other kinds of devices such as on
the Toshibas and Ibm thinkpads. Tried them.
according to the person at Compaq it will handle the win 98 upgrade and the
adaptive software. What do you al think. I am getting a good deal at just
over a 1,000 dollars. it was origanally priced higher at about 1700 or so.
If you could email me privately that would be great so I don't have to
tie up the list. My addy is in my signiture. Thanks in advance for any
info and advice you can give me.
Merry Part and Merry Meet Again
Blessed Be...
Yours,
Gemini and paws )o(
