This problem is off-topic but I couldn't think where else I could post, so
private e-mails please.
I recently tried to connect my laptop to my desktop via a splitter box which
has a switch on it to switch between printer and laptop. Well, it doesn't
work with the laptop. The Direct-Cable-Connection can't detect the laptop
and vice-versa. The printer works fine through this splitter box.
Incidentally, I was able to backup the laptop via a direct connection to my
parallel port.
Any help would be much appreciated.
