yep, two ways to go. one way costs a lot but can save time and some
learning, the other ways are less expensive but require a bit of work to
use.
you can get either openbook from arkenstone, or omni 1,000 from kursweil
educational systems see urls below. there are others, but those are good
ones. the cheaper option but not inferior in output is either omnipage
pro or text bridge pro. they may be bundled with scanners, so take a
look for instance at the small hp products to see what o c r optical
character recognition software they come with. confine yourself to flat
bed and probably not pull through scanners unless you want to chop up
books.
