Hello,
For hard drive backups I use a tape drive and to be perfectly honest
I've never had to restore anything so I don't know how that effected the
jfw key.
Speaking from personal experience just performing the backup I was able
to leave jfw running and no damage was done my key. I'll do some disaster
beta work, some tape restores, and let you know.
