MS DOS in windows

I'm having a problem with MS DOS and jaws 32.  Whenever I go into a DOS
window, Jaws shuts up.  I can't use the pc cursor or the jaws cursor.  I
tried maximizing the dos window to no avail.  Also use the alt enter key,
nothing.  It acts as if jaws is asleep.  Is there a way to fix this?
