jim you are probley missing dll files, or are using wrong version of such
files.
here is how to fix
hit start win 9 x key
hit letter r for run
backspace out info
type the following in
sfc
that is letter s f c with no spaces and hit enter
be sure you have win 98 cd in place before doing so
replace corrupted or missing dll files with this little program
it checcks all system files to see if you have right version, plus it checks to
see if they are their.
