Hi Lynn:
I don't think it is a user error, but rather due to the fact that those pages that
have an address (URL in the lingo) ending in .asp are "Active Server Pages" which
means they are running a script, a program. If the program is generating a picture
then JFW has no way to deal with itt. The reformat page command, as far as I know, is
mainly used to reformat a page that consists of an HTML table transforming it into
linear text, removing the table elements. I visited that site you mentioned and did
not hear anything at all, so, my guess is it is a picture. Accessible web page design
guidelines, such as the standard ones at the Web Accessibility Initiative,
http://www.w3.org/wai/ suggest that dynamic content have some alternative, but
awareness of these guidelines, especially with respect to .asp pages. is not yet
widespread. I went to the main page of that site you mentioned at
http://www4.coolsavings.com and that page was somewhat readable. You could write to
their webmaster and explain your accessibility difficulties.
I believe that this issue will be of increasing importance and I would encourage
anyone on this list who finds access difficulties to become familiar, in outline if
not in detail, with organizations such as the WAI mentioned above. Awareness about
accessible .asp pages needs to be increased. I believe that some of the members of
the WAI are actually right now looking into this area more. I should clarify that
.asp pages are not inherently inaccessible: it is a matter of coding them keeping
accessibility to screen readers in mind.

If any one is interested in further information about any of this, feel free to write
me off list.
-Steve

Hi all,

I keep running into this problem and I am pretty sure it is user error as
opposed to computer or jfw error. I am going to pages on the web through AOL
and I hear text start to read. I stop, go open my internet explorer so I can
juse the insert f5 command and open the same page there. The trouble is,
when I go to the page, many times I hear "Reformating failed, document may
not have finished loading" after I press insert f5. When I turn on my jaws
cursor and look at the bottom of the screen, it says "Done internet zone" I
know the page is finishsed loading but for the life of me can't get it to
reformat or even show any of the text that I saw while on AOL. I tried
unloading and reloading jaws, closing and reopening internet explorer but to
no avail. One address in particular that I am having problems with is the
following: http://www4.coolsavings.com/scripts/white.asp
Any suggestions? Thanks, Lynn Williams
