The Jharkhand forum has just had a good discussion on the Devadasi system in
many parts of India, especially in Karnataka. We have read a lot and would
have written much either in exams or in public forums whenever we got time
to abuse some social evils. We rarely learnt about the things on the
flip-side. In short, there is too much information about the Devadasi
system.
However, more abusive things are happening than the Devadasi system in
Churches, at least this piece of write-up makes us say so. We had learnt
from various unconfirmed sources about the exploitation in Churches but
rarely people came to fore with such a shocking information.
I would be eagerly waiting for this copy. I also feel that the soft copy of
this book should be circulated widely, so that the hypocritic behaviour of
Churches should also be exposed.
What an irony that a nun is raped in Kandhamal draws the national attention
while the screams and sobs of several nuns are buried in the dingy corners
beneath the glowing Churches and Christianity.
