The change is pretty straightforward, there are different codepaths for 
given method and the parametrized type can be either java.lang.Class<?> 
or javax.lang.model.element.TypeElement.
More description in the JIRA.

There were also some duplicates in JIRA for this, so I closed all of 
them except for 8134418.
