Review Comment:
   I can't comment on the difficulty of replacing the segments store with an 
unsegmented store since I haven't looked into it, but one thing we can do to 
improve this situation (if we're sticking with the segmented store) is to set 
the segment interval to something very large (potentially even max long) since 
Bruno's right that we don't need the feature of segments at all, and this way 
we won't have to keep opening and closing new RocksDBs (and we'll only ever 
have one store at a time, versus potentially 3 with the current choice of 
segment interval).
