Review Comment:
   > `cumValueSize` is not updated with `currValueSize`. Why?
   
   Yes, in fact in this if (if deserIndex is ahead of currIndex), we must have 
EVERYTHING ready. Therefore, `if (currValueSize == Integer.MIN_VALUE)` does not 
fit here. I removed it.
