Matthias J. Sax commented on KAFKA-17462:
-----------------------------------------

Hi, thanks for your interest to contribute to Kafka (and Flink).

You should sign up to the dev mailing list for questions like this
([https://kafka.apache.org/contact)|https://kafka.apache.org/contact] – Btw:
Flink is an independent project, and thus you need to consult Flink web-page /
mailing list etc with information about how to contribute etc.

I did add you to the list on Kafka contributors on Jira and you can now
self-assign Kafka tickets.

In general, feel free to assign any unassigned ticket to yourself (but only if
you really intent to work on it soon). If a ticket is assigned but it seems
nobody works on it, feel free to leave a comment on the ticket and asked about
the status and express your interest to pick it up. If there is no objections
raise, you can re-assign such ticket to yourself.

For this ticket in particular, we cannot work on it yet. It's a ticket for 5.0
release, which is far in the future.
