Thanks for the PR, but I think it's not needed any longer? With 3.0.0 release, we fixed this issue via https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-8613 Grace period does no longer have a default value (of 24h), and it's set explicitly by the user now; the old API was removed with 4.0.0 release: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-16332 I think we can close the Jira ticket and PR.
