Could you expand why you have a preference for this?
In my mind, it makes sense, at least for this implementation to keep the
limit because we're bounding the amount of space that we can allocate in a
single `read(xxxx)` call. After each iteration of the inner loop, the records
we have loaded into memory have the potential to be deallocated by GC. But ofc
this assumes a more simplistic model for GC. But having no maximum means that
the amount of space allocated depends on the size of log on disk. That leads to
unpredictable memory usage.
