@lh0156 I have left a comment on the Jira ticket. I created this task with the intention of working on it myself, and I am clearly listed as the assignee. Based on the Jira ticket I created, I plan to draft a KIP, discuss it with the maintainers, and then open a PR for KAFKA-20883.
