I merged the trunk PR within the past week. The 4.4 change is already in, but
the 4.3 proved to be difficult as crucial test files are missing in that branch
and I was working on porting the tests in a way that makes sense. Folks
regularly call for patch releases, but I personally don't have the bandwidth to
start one.
Apache Kafka is run by the community, so if there is something that you want to
get done, you can help out!
