@ncliang, thanks for creating this PR! We've recently adopted and implemented [KIP-610](https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/KAFKA/KIP-610%3A+Error+Reporting+in+Sink+Connectors). Would you mind taking a look to see whether that solves the problem?
