I did not look at the tests closely yet but I thought `sourceTask.stop();` (https://github.com/apache/kafka/pull/10112/files#diff-b8da514e331b4d8bff623626ee31a45048b753911193b564a9b65f02b97f53c8R922) was a key part of the test.
