Currently when using serializers like the Cloud Event Serializer, we need to do a work around so it doesn't throw an error. Using the method taking the headers would prevent this. Since the default implementation just calls the method without the headers, it's expected to be fully backwards compatible. *More detailed description of your change, if necessary.
